Slavery in Labor Market

All labourers are slaves to their employers. One would say that it is human capital that is acquired by the employers and not the labourer per se.

Yes it is, but if the employer demands for the human capital, the labourer will use its human capital even though against the will of the labourer, for whatever reason, service should be rendered for the employer’s satisfaction. Labourer once hired, human capital is wholly or partly owned by the employer. And labourer and human capital are indivisible. Therefore labourer is in bondage under the the authority of employer.

Like in my cases before, to mention a few. I had to be in my desk 8 am from Monday to Friday despite of our common knowledge that my business with the transacting public and supervision of the Forbes Park usually starts by 10 am. A waste of time.

I had to attend to other McDonald’s restaurants/branches for more than 12 hours without overtime pay (well I was functioning as Shift Manager but my status is still in a rank and file MT) even it is beyond my responsibility but I had to whether I like it or not, otherwise George Yang will not be satisfied.

I could say, labourer is paid for the use of human capital but payment does not compensate to the real value of its contribution to the employer’s total output and success of attaining set goals.

Labourer most of the time is dehumanized because of the ops standards; instructions and orders of superiors, absorptions of the provided alternatives to the situational problems.

I was unemployed for several years because I do not like to be in thralldom again. I thought it is the way to be a freeman. But getting out of the labour force does not make a man a freeman.

Neither Socialism per se could not give relief. A labourer will remain a slave but not to a private owner but to the government. It is the government which will be in control of the means and in control of the labour. It is inevitable, it is the government which will have the legitimate power to manage and lead.

But I could say Socialism or Capitalism...

A labourer will be a freeman once empowered to make decision in an assigned area of responsibility for the common goals.

A free mind to think, to plan, to decide, and control makes a labourer a freeman.

Active participation in management unit, division, hierarchy makes a labourer a freeman.

Stock options programs, contribution plans like 401k of U.S. or ISA of U.K. make a labourer a freeman.

Profit sharing make a labourer a freeman.

A working environment and company culture that encourage development and use of labourer’s full potential make a labourer a freeman.

The Teacher who, against her will, follows the school suppressive and banking culture and system is under the bondage of the authority of the employer.

Where individuality, creativity, and realism are censored and punished, there is no academic freedom. Thus make Teachers dehumanised slaves.

Academic Freedom, in addition therefore, makes a Teacher a freeman.
