rania 2010: Where are we now?

Dear Comrades:

It was sometime in 1997, Yul Olaya and Michael Gatela invited me in their new tasks.

I was introduced to "rugby" boys (substance abusers), scavengers and other neglected children. The two long-time friends are working for children.

I was not new to the situation since I was working as a church worker and a teacher, administering the children's Sunday worships mostly in rural areas.

But our discussions and sharing of thoughts and experiences, what distinguished mine from theirs. I realized that teachings need concrete actions. It should not be just actions but with concrete output. We could easily claim that we love our neighbors, Our neglect to the needs of the poor neighbors, however, is another story.

My responsibility in church by that time made my association with Mike and Yul too short, but the plan to put the ideas into reality is made as a firm decision.

I stopped working for a church.

My time table to put up a children foundation was way ahead of my retirement age from elective public service. My time lapsed. So I jumped to the next chapter of my life which I dedicated to my BOSS.

In November 19, 2009, I registered the name of rania Child Development Center (a private foundation).

I reached the assistance of Michael in initial planning. He contributed much on the concept. His doubts raised questions that give way to clarifications of some issues, we were preparing and trying to reach our friends in the fields of economics and sociology for the General Well Being and Gross National Happiness (community in our situation)Growth and Development Indicators.

Aileen who remains to be critical and involve for social change does the same.

Alain lend his office facilities for some correspondence.

Ariem, his commitment to Curriculum Development in English and in so many ways.

Jessie though busy in his work as Head Teacher in an elementary school, is facilitating the accreditation (recommendation certificate for registration) of rania by DepEd. Others who are not mentioned remain to be silent workers.

We reached our college, high school and elementary years friends. Teachers and health worker practitioners and start discussing the foundation. Some are hesitant and some have committed to be of help.

We are consulting child psychologists and sociologists/social workers for DSWD Licensure and Registration for rania as institutional foster care center for orphans, street children prostitutes, scavengers, beggars
( http://www.unicef.org/photoessays/30556.html )
and other neglected sectors including the victims of conflict.

Our foreign counter-parts are not producing any development of our Center registration. But we are still outsourcing the progressive volunteers to assist us in working research and project plan.

Nominees and prospects for Board of Trustees membership remains but Mr. Chui Yeng is out.

We are trying to reach the people who will share to our Mission or in any way as volunteers.

Benefactors and donors' donations accumulated to nth millions. But these are all just commitments. No funds are transferred to our chest yet.

Most of the donated funds are subjected to clearances, duties and taxes (one foreign government asked me to pay Anti-Terrorists Tax, what a tax?). It is my conclusion that rania is suffering from political persecutions. It is hard to be proven but valid to say that rania even though at pre-operating stage is considered a threat to those whose interests are contrary to our perspective, beginnings and vision . rania is suspected to be or will be a lair or cover for what is demons for the greedy sectors.

rania however is not alone suffering. We are too many.

Please read the report of Ms. Lisa Jordan at

At the moment due to our lack of finances and other resources, we slowed down our researches and consultations. Our progress is even slower due to lack of communication. Not one are used to cyber-organizing. We are used to face-to-face and constant meetings.

My imprisonment in 2009 -2010 also caused the delay. Until now I am forced to be in Mandaluyong City for Court hearings. Number of postponed meetings with benefactors and sponsors are increased. Postponed Donation Contract signing as worst. Others are waiting and just seeing. Lost of trust of confidence to others.

We are trying to reach the people who will share to our Mission or in any way as volunteers.

As another year will be added to our age, I consider it a loss of another year unless we are preparing or prepared the ones who will take our responsibilities in the future.

Your objective evaluation and assessment could give us additional strength to move any further.

Thank you.
